Company Directory & Shared Contacts

Every employee automatically gets a searchable directory of everyone else in the company — name, extension, and status — built and kept up to date by the system itself, with no spreadsheet to maintain.

01

What happens when we hire someone new or someone leaves?

The directory updates the moment an administrator adds, removes, or changes an extension — there’s no separate address book to edit by hand, and no risk of a departed employee’s number lingering in everyone’s contact list.

02

Can we also share contact lists beyond just our own employees — like vendors or key clients?

Yes — beyond the automatic employee directory, you can build and share contact lists (vendors, key accounts, partner companies) that the whole team, or specific departments, can see and dial from directly.

03

Does this connect to our existing directory, like Active Directory?

If your business already manages employee accounts through a system like Active Directory or Azure AD (Microsoft’s tools for centrally managing logins — see Glossary), the company directory can sync from there automatically instead of being maintained separately. See Directory Sync for how that connection works.

04

Can callers from outside the company use this directory too?

Not directly — but the same underlying data powers Dial-by-Name Directory, which lets outside callers reach an employee by typing the first few letters of their name on the phone keypad.

05

Is the directory available on mobile, or just on desk phones?

It’s available everywhere your team works — desk phones, the desktop app, and the mobile app — so a search for a coworker’s extension looks the same no matter which device someone is using.

Let’s walk through what company directory & shared contacts would look like day-to-day.
