On-Site Appliance

A dedicated hardware unit is installed at your location, giving you a phone system that lives on your own premises, on your own network, with plug-and-play setup and complete hands-on control.

01

Why would a business choose hardware over a cloud-based system?

Some businesses want their phone system physically on-site — for full control over the hardware, for environments with unreliable internet where local calling should keep working even during an outage, or simply because that’s the operating model their IT team is most comfortable managing directly.

02

How big of a business is this suited for?

The appliance comes in different hardware tiers sized from small offices up to several hundred extensions, so the right unit scales to match your headcount rather than over- or under-provisioning capacity.

03

Does it still support calling over the internet, or only old-style phone lines?

Both. The appliance supports internet-based calling (a SIP trunk) alongside traditional phone lines if you have them, so you’re not locked into one connection type.

04

What happens if I need more capacity later than the unit currently supports?

The hardware is modular — expansion boards and add-on modules can increase the number of ports, extensions, and concurrent calls it can handle, so growth doesn’t necessarily mean replacing the whole unit. See Hardware Expansion & Capacity Planning.

05

Can I combine an on-site appliance with cloud-hosted features?

Yes — see Hybrid Deployment for how an on-site appliance and cloud-hosted components can work together rather than being an either/or choice.
