Multi-Site & Multi-Location Connectivity
A single phone system can connect multiple office locations, sharing phone lines and phone numbers centrally instead of running separate, disconnected systems at each site. An employee at one branch can then dial a colleague at another as easily as dialing the desk next to them.

What’s the practical benefit of connecting our locations this way?
Fewer total phone lines to pay for (locations can share capacity rather than each needing their own), simpler internal calling between offices (a short internal extension instead of a full outside call), and one place to manage every location’s settings, users, and numbers instead of juggling several separate systems.
Do all locations need to be the same size or have the same setup?
No. A main office can run larger on-site hardware while smaller branches connect in with lighter local equipment or none at all — see Hybrid Deployment for how mixed setups across locations work together as one system.
Can each location still have its own phone numbers and local presence?
Yes. Each site can keep its own local phone numbers, so customers still reach a local-feeling number. The underlying system centrally manages trunk (the shared connection carrying multiple calls at once — see Glossary) capacity across every site.
What happens if one location’s internet goes down?
Local hardware lets each site’s local calling keep working independently. Centralized management means a problem at one location doesn’t take down calling at the others.
Does adding a new location require a whole new phone system setup?
No — you typically just connect a new location into the existing shared system and provision it with its own numbers and extensions. That’s significantly faster than standing up an independent phone system from scratch each time you open a new site.
