Multicast & Zone Paging
Multicast paging (sending one audio announcement simultaneously to many phones and speakers at once — see Glossary) lets you broadcast a single announcement across defined zones of a building or site, rather than paging one phone at a time.

What does “zone” mean in this context?
A zone is a group of phones or speakers you’ve organized logically — by floor, department, warehouse section, or building, in a multi-location business. You can page one zone specifically, several at once, or everywhere company-wide, depending on who needs to hear the announcement.
Why does this matter for larger or multi-area businesses?
It’s the difference between reaching the right people and interrupting everyone. A warehouse-only safety announcement doesn’t need to blast through the front office, and a company-wide message shouldn’t require paging each department separately one by one.
What kind of businesses typically use zone paging?
Environments with distinct physical areas that need targeted communication — warehouses, schools, manufacturing floors, multi-department offices, and larger retail spaces are common examples, though the same setup works for any multi-area site.
Can a zone paging announcement also be scheduled in advance?
Yes — zone paging works together with Scheduled Paging, so a recurring announcement (like a shift-change alert in one specific zone) can play automatically without anyone triggering it live.
Is this the same underlying technology as basic one-way paging?
Yes — multicast/zone paging is one-way paging extended across multiple simultaneous destinations, rather than a separate feature entirely.
