BYOD Support

BYOD (Bring Your Own Device — letting employees use their own personal phone, tablet, or laptop for work — see Glossary) works through the same softphone app used on company-owned hardware. That way, a personal device becomes a business extension without exposing anyone’s personal number.

01

Does an employee’s personal phone number ever reach customers?

No — calls placed and received through the app always use the business number, never the employee’s own mobile number. A customer calling back reaches the business line, not a personal cell phone.

02

Why would a business allow BYOD instead of issuing company phones?

It reduces hardware cost and lets employees work from a device they’re already comfortable with. That’s especially useful for smaller teams, seasonal staff, or roles that don’t justify a dedicated company phone.

03

Is there a security concern with mixing business and personal use on one device?

The business app and its data stay logically separate from the rest of the personal device. Business call history, voicemail, and contacts live inside the app itself, not mixed into the employee’s personal phone data.

04

Can you revoke BYOD access if someone leaves the company?

Yes. Access is tied to the employee’s account, not the physical device. Removing their login immediately cuts off business calling on their personal phone, and you never need to touch the device itself.

05

Does BYOD work the same as remote work support?

They’re closely related. BYOD is about which device someone uses, while Remote Access & Work-From-Anywhere is about where they use it from. Most businesses use both together for flexible teams.

Let’s walk through what BYOD support would look like day-to-day.
