Holiday & Exception Schedules
You can set holiday dates and one-off exceptions in advance — even months ahead — and the system automatically plays your holiday greeting and follows your holiday routing rules on those specific dates, without touching your normal weekly schedule at all.

How far in advance can you schedule holidays?
There’s no practical limit — many businesses load their full holiday calendar for the entire coming year in one sitting, so nobody has to remember to make a change as each date approaches.
What counts as an “exception,” versus a recurring holiday?
A recurring holiday is one you expect to repeat, like a fixed year-end shutdown. A one-off exception is unplanned instead — a snow day, an early office closure, a company retreat, a power outage. Both use the same mechanism: a specific date (or date range) that temporarily overrides your normal weekly hours.
Does a holiday override completely replace the normal menu, or can it use the same one?
You choose. Some businesses just want the after-hours greeting to play automatically on a holiday, using logic already covered in Business Hours vs. After-Hours Menus. Others want a distinct holiday-specific message instead (“We’re closed today for the holiday, back tomorrow at 9am”).
Can different departments or brands have different holiday calendars?
Yes — a retail-facing brand might close for a holiday your back-office support team still works through, and each can have its own independent holiday calendar rather than sharing one system-wide list.
What happens if we need to add a last-minute exception, like an unplanned closure?
You can add it same-day, directly in the admin portal, and it takes effect immediately. No lead time is required, even though the feature is built primarily for planning ahead. This uses the same underlying engine as Conditional & Time-of-Day Routing.
