Agent Presence & Status
Presence (a real-time status indicator showing whether someone is available, busy, away, or offline — see Glossary) gives you a live, accurate picture of who’s actually free to take a call, without needing to physically check or interrupt anyone to ask.

Why is this more useful than just seeing who’s logged in?
Being logged in doesn’t mean someone’s available — they might be on a call, finishing notes, or on a scheduled break. Presence status reflects real-time activity, so the system (and any supervisor watching) always knows the true, current state of every agent, not just whether their computer is on.
What status options do agents typically have?
Available, on a call, paused/away (with a reason, like break or lunch), and logged out are the common states. Agents update their own status, or it updates automatically based on what they’re doing — for example, switching to “on a call” the moment they answer.
Does pausing count against an agent, or is it just for tracking breaks?
Pause status exists to give an accurate, honest picture of team capacity — not to police individual agents. It lets a supervisor instantly see how many people are truly available right now versus on a legitimate break, which matters for staffing decisions in busy moments.
Can a manager see this for the whole team at once?
Yes — presence status for every agent rolls up into the supervisor’s live dashboard, so a manager sees team-wide availability in real time rather than checking each person individually. See Real-Time Agent & Queue Dashboard.
Does presence status affect which calls an agent receives?
Yes — only agents marked available are offered new calls from the queue, so presence status directly controls call distribution, not just visibility.
