Live Call Monitoring

A supervisor can silently listen to any live call in progress — neither the agent nor the customer hears them — to check quality, spot coaching opportunities, or simply understand what’s really happening on the floor in real time.

01

Why is silent monitoring useful if I can just review recordings later?

Recordings tell you what already happened; live monitoring lets you catch a problem — a struggling new hire, an escalating customer — while it’s still happening, when you can actually do something about it. It’s the difference between reacting after the fact and stepping in when it matters.

02

Does the agent know they’re being monitored?

Not during the call itself — monitoring is silent on both ends. Most businesses do disclose to staff, as part of onboarding or policy, that calls may be monitored for quality purposes, separate from whether any individual call is being actively watched.

03

What’s the difference between this and whisper coaching or barge-in?

Live monitoring is listen-only — the supervisor says nothing. Whisper coaching lets the supervisor speak privately to the agent. Barge-in lets the supervisor join the conversation directly, audible to the customer too. They’re three levels of increasing involvement.

04

How does a supervisor choose which call to monitor?

From the real-time dashboard, supervisors see all active calls across their queues and can select any one to start monitoring instantly — no advance scheduling or special request needed.

05

Is there a legal consideration to be aware of?

Call monitoring and recording laws vary by jurisdiction — some require notice to one or both parties. Your business should confirm its monitoring policy complies with applicable regulations in the regions where you operate.

Let’s walk through what live call monitoring would look like day-to-day.
