Broadcast & Announcement Voicemail

A broadcast (or announcement) voicemail lets you record one message and deliver it directly into the voicemail box of every extension in a group — a department, a location, or the whole company. You never have to dial each person individually.

What’s this actually useful for?

Company-wide announcements that don’t need a live meeting: a schedule change, a policy update, a weather closure, or a reminder before a holiday. It’s a fast way to make sure everyone gets the same message word-for-word. Nobody has to relay it accurately through a chain of people.

How is this different from a shared department voicemail box?

A shared voicemail box collects incoming messages from callers for a team to review. Broadcast voicemail works the other direction — it’s a message you send out to a group’s individual mailboxes, not something customers leave.

Do recipients get notified the same way as a normal voicemail?

Yes. A broadcast message shows up exactly like any other voicemail, including the option to also deliver it by email. That way, no one misses it just because they don’t regularly check their desk phone.

Can I target specific groups rather than the whole company?

Yes. You choose exactly which extensions, ring groups, or departments receive a given broadcast. That way, a message meant for one office location doesn’t need to go to every employee company-wide.

Is there a limit to how often you can use this?

There’s no system-enforced limit. Like any broadcast tool, though, it’s best reserved for messages that genuinely need to reach everyone at once, rather than routine day-to-day communication better suited to chat or email.
