AI Receptionist
Managed Voice / Auto Attendant (IVR)
AI Receptionist
An AI receptionist answers calls around the clock, holds a natural back-and-forth conversation instead of forcing callers through a rigid “press 1 for…” tree, and routes each caller based on what they actually say they need — not just which button they pressed.

How is this different from a normal auto attendant?
A standard auto attendant (the traditional “press 1 for Sales” menu — see Glossary) requires a caller to navigate a fixed set of options. An AI receptionist listens to what the caller actually says — “I need to reschedule an appointment” — and routes them based on that stated intent, without them needing to guess which numbered option applies.
Can it actually answer questions, or does it only route calls?
Both. You can connect it to your own documents, FAQs, or website content, and it will answer common questions directly using that material — hours, pricing, policies — before ever needing to bring a human into the call. For anything it can’t answer, it routes to the right person or queue instead of leaving the caller stuck.
What happens when a caller wants to talk to an actual person?
They can ask, plainly, at any point — “I’d like to speak with someone” — and the AI receptionist hands the call off to a live person immediately, along with a summary of what the caller already said, so nobody has to repeat themselves. See Escape to a Live Person for how this handoff works on standard menus too.
Does it work in more than one language?
Yes — it can hold a natural conversation across dozens of languages, detecting and responding in whichever language the caller uses, without a separate menu or setup step per language.
Can we track how well it’s performing?
Yes. Call volume, resolution rate, hand-off rate to a live person, and common caller requests are all tracked in dedicated reporting, so you can see exactly what it’s handling well and where callers are getting routed to your team instead.
Is this available on every plan?
It’s typically offered as part of higher-tier plans, since it runs on more advanced infrastructure than a standard menu — ask your account contact which tier includes it for your deployment.
