Busy Camp-On & Callback-on-Busy
Camp-on (“busy camp-on” — see Glossary) lets a caller who reaches a busy extension automatically get connected — or automatically get called back — the instant that extension becomes free, instead of hanging up and manually redialing over and over.

How is this different from just leaving a voicemail?
Voicemail requires the busy person to notice a message and call back later, often after the caller has already moved on or called a competitor. Camp-on skips that entire cycle: the connection happens automatically the moment the line clears, usually within seconds of the call actually ending.
Does the caller have to stay on hold the whole time?
Not necessarily — depending on how it’s configured, the caller can either wait briefly on the line, or hang up and receive an automatic callback once the extension is free, so they’re not stuck listening to hold music indefinitely.
What’s this most useful for?
Any role where people are reached directly and get busy often — sales reps, account managers, support specialists — where a missed connection can mean a lost opportunity rather than just an inconvenience.
How does this relate to overflow handling in ring groups?
Camp-on operates on a single busy extension; overflow rules handle what happens when an entire group is busy or unavailable. See Overflow & No-Answer Handling for the group-level version of the same idea.
Can employees see who’s waiting to reach them?
Yes — combined with Distinctive Ringtones & Caller-ID Matching, an employee can recognize and prioritize a camped-on caller the moment their line frees up.
